We are back in the promiseland

We arrived back in Wichita about 2:15 today with about 70 percent of our luggage. Please pray for our team as we process, pray and engage culture. Please contact people on the team to hear their stories of “God at work.”

YOU ARE INVITED:
The South Africa team and four other teams will report this Sunday from 6-8 at WEFC. Come hear and see what God did on these different trips. As well, we plan on serving the soup that the kids in South Africa eat at the soup kitchen. This is generally the only meal they get each day.

Mama Nazaki

Today we served in Motherwell South Africa. We had the privilege of partnering with MAMA Nazaki. You are called MAMA in the community only if you are seen as a servant and one who cares for underprivileged kids. Mama Nazaki taught us a ton about service and humility.

About 200 kids ate their one meal for the day. After lunch many of the children worshiped God through singing. It was a blast watching the children worship with zeal.

The ladies also led a study for some of the women of the community. After their study they sang together. WOW! Psalm 145:7 “They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.” They were a living example of celebrating God’s goodness. We could all learn from their passionate expression of thanksgiving.

The day ended with a study from Philippians 2 on Humility. We heard from God’s word about humility and we saw a living example in Mama Nazaki.

Tomorrow we will head back to East London via Motherwell. We will visit the kids for one last time. Please pray that we would encourage each of the Mamas and the children in the Lord.

We will be back in the US in 3 days. Please join us at 6pm on Sunday June 13th at West Evangelical Free Church as we give a report on how God worked on this trip.

The Julie’s(2) Report

To start off the day we went to the beach and Greg led the team in a church service. It was absolutely beautiful. While we were listening to Greg we had the divine privilege of seeing God’s creation. The sermon was about Psalms 145, which was the passage we had to memorize for the trip. It spoke about the awesomeness of our Lord Jesus Christ and surrendering everything we are and have to Him. After the service we got to explore! We found many shells, sea urchins, and even got to see a huge WHALE! ahhhhh!! So coool. Also the water was very cold…. brrrrr. South African water is as cold as wichita water. who knew? Then, we went to the Board walk and we got to shop, shop, shop till we drop, drop, dropped! (Mama D you would of liked shopping today). We bargained and we conquered. We bought bowls, paintings, drums, elephants, rhinos, giraffes….(they were all wooden by the way). haha. After shopping, we headed off to the dangerous SAFARI! The sign said, “Enter at your own risk, Animals are not tamed, stay in your car.” so as we drove the safari we encountered the dangerous and ferocious wilderbeasts, giraffes, water buffalo (jessica was very brave and got pretty close to save Stephanie from their evil intentions of eating flesh.) As we neared towards the end of the safari we decided to get brave and get out of the vehicles (GASP). We crossed an Indiana Jones swaying bridge to get to the baby cheetahs. They were very cute and adorable and we enjoyed their cuteness furriness UNTIL we heard one of the baby cheetahs squeak for their mommy’s rescue because it was stuck in a TREE. The mom hurried to her baby’s rescue and the baby was safe. As we exited the cheetah exhibit the two Julie’s (Witte & Dimwit) Decided to TOUCH the WILD cheetah (through the fence). Don’t worry we still have all of our body parts… I think. After that experience the day became dusk and dusk became night, so we came home to Jackie’s WONDERFUL roast beef meal and Coffee pie. We would put a cool ending to the day but we dont have one… zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. (sleep)

Jehovah Jireh

We left our B&B and drove approximately 1 1/2 to Alexandria where the orphans home, Jehovah Jireh, is located. There are no words to explain our experience today. Molly and her husband, Neil, started this ministry with a dream. They have approximately 125 children from age 3 months to 15 years old. We loved on them, played with them, painted their face and had a VBS session with them.

It was a blessing to hear them singing; especially their theme song Jehovah Jireh. Oceans of Mercy sponsorship program is at this location. An awesome ministry! “In as much as you have done it into the least of these, you have done it unto me.”

Another amazing day to be in God’s Plan

Today the men finished building the fence and putting in the new clothes line. All they have left to do is put the new gate in and they will be finished. During the womens bible study julie witte lead the Mama’s and the women on the trip in a phenominal worship. The children were literally storming the door of Mama Nasaki’s house just to listen to the worship. After the kids had lunch the Women did VBS with the kids and did an awesome job as always! We are all truly blessed that the lord enabled us to minister to the kids and the Mama’s of Motherwell. Tune in tomorrow for our next blog announcement!
